Confessions of A Reluctant Delhiite

There's a long weekend this week. I might have to go to Mumbai for a meeting on Thursday or Monday. So do I take the weekend in Mumbai ? Mom's here and the thought of leaving her here alone is not appealing. However the thought of 3 days (THREE) in Mumbai is also very appealing. Jeez.

There are good sensible reasons why people get up and blog at 5:30 am. Like you were leaving to catch a flight and the flight got delayed. The cat woke u up or something else. Unfortunately I have no such good reason. Having got you here I now proceed to go off on a tangent. Just read that Nirupa Roy passed away. Incredible fact that she was a Gujju wife who took a bongish screen name. Why is that ? Is it that Bongs have much more tragedic roles ? Bongs are more sacrificing mom types ? The world demands a answer.

And in closing these lines from Mid Day about Ms. Roy "n the 1990s, her career faded away. Younger, more glamorous, actresses like Waheeda Rehman and Raakhee took over the mother's slot.". What is Hindi cinema coming to ? More glamorous moms ? I look forward to the day when the mom does a item number to save the family honor.

In general i do tend to believe in Movie Reviews. The last lot of reviews for Bride and Prejudice actually tend to favor them. With the exception of the Hindu which brims with suppressed caustic wit the rest sort of pan praise the movie. Perhaps the reviewers let their collective egos stay aside and let Gurinder Chadha's ego prevail. Come on the movie was crap.

Advice to people planning to watch Bride and Prejudice - Don't. It's a Hindi film done in English with English songs and item numbers. I've seen cardboard cutouts with character than the ones in this film. Why do people who are great at making nice small budget movies go and spend a zillion rupees on this atrocious piece of crap is beyond me. Suffice to say that this film is bound to be a cult classic which is watched like any other C-Grade movie.

Another week goes by. Why is it that you get so comfortable in the routine that u can't break out. Even though u know that you need to break out of the routine ? Why am I so bored ? Why do I lack the impetus to do the needful ?
