RIP

This is probably the last post in this blog. But knowing my nomadic genes wouldn't be surprised if Delhi suddenly looms large in my life. Have started a new blog http://dininglife.blogspot.com about food. Gives me so much more scope. Anyway to paraphrase a old ESPN saying "Happiness is Delhi in my rearview mirror".

Au revoir and do visit my new blog.

Mumbai Bliss

Now almost a month into my mumbai sojourn. Missing the complete randomness of bird sighting in Delhi. Need to get a wildlife trip. Be the first time in three seasons that I have not been able to get into the wild. Looks like the republic day weekend is the one....

Anyone for Ennui ?

While I attempt to think of a nice title for my new blog on life in Mumbai (YESSSS!) a quick post here. Yesterday went to drop mother dear off for a train. Walked outside my building @ 10pm ish and caught a cab off the road. No grumbles or issues. Landed at station and got Rs. 2 back as change. Dropped mom off and then took a train back @ 11.30 ish. Was walking back home when a cabbie who'd seen me years back picked me up and dropped me home. He refused payment saying he was going the same way. Isnt Mumbai wonderful ?

Thinking Thinking Thinking

Aaagh would you believe it I am actually dreading the thought of moving back home. The thought of Mumbai is completely cool. I really miss having my own personal space since it will back to Mom and Bro. Also this is probably the first career move I am making where the monetary aspects are more exciting than the learning curve. Still can't reconcile myself to the fact that I'm selling out. Feel like a bloody bull at a cattle fair. (Yeah Yeah look like one too).

Ok on the blog front plan to start one on my food experiences in Mumbai. Whatcha think ????

D Day Beckons

Ok all 8th December be my last day in Delhi. I leave for Mumbai the next day and then be back for a couple of days to get the home packed up. Be weird not having my own space in Mumbai but hopefully will be able to pick one up real soon. And on another note will be complete bliss to be able to eat fish without freaking on the price. Also so looking forward to staggering out of places @ 4 am and being able to hail a cab without having to haggle. But do think I will miss the sheer space of Delhi. Will also miss the completely random bird sightings I used to get in Delhi. Will also miss the Delhi winters. Would I be so missy if this was the Delhi Summer ?

So Long and Thanks for all the flesh

Awright 3 years and some days later something finally interesting happens to me in Delhi. By Mid December I should be back in the #1 city in the world. Be good to be back home. Although I'd hate to say it I would miss some aspects of Delhi

1. The sheer space I had. Going back to a Mumbai flat is going 2 be tough
2. The ability to take off on the weekends. Delhi did have some cool places to go wildlife wise. Mumbai is sadly that much lacking and will have to be content with people watching.
3. Do miss the crisp winters. Won't miss the crap summers and the excuse of a monsoon. Oh to get wet in a blizzardy mumbai downpour....

Babuji Post !!

Tis the time of the year when I come in contact with people who I never meet otherwise. I have no issues with Diwali bakshish to guys like the postman, security guard etc etc. What gets my goat is when the telegram guys ask for gratification. I mean when was the last time anyone ever got a telegram ?

Outside of this the best part of Diwali is that it means winter is near. Its the best part of the year in Delhi and makes it almost bearable to exist there. Anyway hopefully not too many years left here....
